Bank officially began operating as a foreign exchange bank since March 18, 2002 under Decree No. Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia. 4/KEP.DpG/2002. In 2002, the Bank established the Foundation Partners Build Prosperous Nation (Ummah BSM) is one of the foundation is a business unit of the Institute Amil Zakat (LAZ) BSM Ummah with the aim to promote the establishment of the management of Zakat, and Sadaqah infak more effective as a reflection of social concern. Banks distribute revenue to the Institute of Amil Zakat charity, so that the Bank does not directly perform the management functions of zakat funds, and funds infak and Sadaqah qardhul hasan.
